750 Miles. No motor, no support. All the way to Alaska.

In June one of the toughest, most demanding sailing races takes place from Victoria, Canada to Ketchikan in Alaska. This 15 min VR documentary takes the viewer on a journey with sailing champions Roellen & Rohan Gilmore as they navigate some of the wildest open oceans on earth. Encapsulating one of the most stunning journeys on the face of the planet, the adventure takes human endurance to the limits against a backdrop of untamed wilderness.

The inside passage to Alaska has been paddled by native canoes since time immemoria, sailing craft for centuries, and after someone found gold in the Klondike the route was jammed with steamboats full of prospectors elbowing each other out of the way for the promise of fortune. It’s in the spirit of tradition, exploration, and the lawless self-reliance of the gold rush that Race to Alaska was born. R2AK is the first of its kind and North America’s longest human and wind powered race, and currently the largest cash prize for a race of its kind.

Through in the moment dialogue and narration and exploring the vast emptiness and beauty of the Alaskan coastline, audiences will be brought into the personal space of Roellen and Rohan think and feel at every turn, struggle and triumph.
